John LaForge, Associate Conductor, made his MOS debut in 2000 as a soloist in the Bach B Minor Mass and has since performed on several concerts with MOS and The Michael O’Neal Chamber Singers as both a soloist and chorus member. In summer 2008, John was a soloist in the Holocaust Cantata with MOS in Columbus, Georgia, and two concerts in Italy. He was also a soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G during performances at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in 2011 and performed as a soloist and conductor for concerts in Spain in 2014. Other notable performances as a solo artist with MOS include the Mozart Requiem in 2009, the Brahms A German Requiem in 2011, the Winter 2012 concert The Brilliance of Beethoven and the Fall 2014 concert Fantasy of the Opera. He also conducted the Fourth Annual Hear the Future! concert in 2012. He will perform as a soloist with MOS for the Beethoven Choral Fantasy and Bruckner Te Deum in March 2016.
John is Director of Worship Arts for Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Prior to joining the GFUMC staff in 2012, he served as Coordinator of Music Education for Fulton County Schools for eight years and worked to support music initiatives with numerous arts organizations in the Atlanta area and nationally, including the Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Capitol City Opera, Spivey Hall, and the Metropolitan Opera National Council. John joined the MOS staff in 2008 and regularly conducts the chorus in concerts, in addition to assisting with rehearsals. He also sings with Kaleidoscope.
