Gloria and other favorites with special guest, The Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet

British composer John Rutter is famous on both sides of the Atlantic, and is known for his beautiful melodies, engaging harmonies, and colorful orchestrations. He is arguably the most popular of the choral/orchestral composers writing today and his Christmas music in particular enthralls both singers and audiences–it is the rare Christmas choral concert that doesn’t include at least one Rutter selection. We dedicate our entire holiday concert to the music of this celebrated composer.

Anchoring the concert will be Rutter’s three-movement Gloria, which earned him his initial acclaim in the USA. Composed for chorus, brass, and percussion, this is one of the most exciting Christmas pieces ever written. Featured in the performance will be the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet, returning for its sixth appearance with MOS. Many more Rutter favorites will be performed, including original compositions Angels’ Carol, Mary’s Lullaby, Nativity Carol and Shepherd’s Pipe Carol and arrangements of well-known carols such as Child in a Manger, I Saw Three Ships, Wexford Carol and Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow.

Rutter’s original holiday compositions together with his innovative arrangements of familiar carols will make this a Christmas concert that will be sure to please and touch folks of all ages. Bring the family and start your holiday celebration with MOS!
