Honegger's King David: Composer, Concert Information, Directions, e-News, Narrators, Program Notes, Soloists
Honegger's King David
Sunday, March 12, 2006 3:00 p.m. - Roswell UMC
One of the greatest characters of the Old Testament is David, a man who "lived large." He was at various times valiant, warlike,
prudent, ruthless, and self-centered. However, by the end of his life David was beset with guilt and sorrows over his past misdeeds even as he rejoiced in his triumphs. His was a complicated and flawed,
yet glorious, life. The Swiss-French composer Arthur Honegger has captured the essence of David in his symphonic psalm, King David. Scored for narrator, chorus, soloists, and wind ensemble, this is a work both musically exciting and dramatically engaging.
Don't miss this rarely performed masterpiece!
