The Michael O'Neal Singers invite you to our
performance of . . .
Honegger's King
David Sunday, March 12, 3:00 PM in the
Roswell UMC Sanctuary
One of the greatest
characters of the Old Testament is David, a man who "lived large." He was
at various times valiant, warlike, prudent, ruthless, and
self-centered. However, by the end of his life David was beset with
guilt and sorrows over his past misdeeds even as he rejoiced in his
triumphs. His was a complicated and flawed, yet glorious, life.
The Swiss-French
composer Arthur Honegger has
captured the essence of David in his symphonic psalm, King
David . Featuring chamber orchestra, Oral Moses
and Barbara Dean as narrators, and soloists Angela Gilbert, Janara
Kellerman, and Bradley Howard from the Southeastern Festival of Song, this
is a work both musically exciting and dramatically engaging.
