May 18, 2000 Dear Friends, Thank you for a superb concert this past Friday night. What a glorious conclusion to an exciting 10th Anniversary Season, and I think it was obvious from the reaction of the audience members that they felt the same way! Reflect for a moment on what you have accomplished: - a moving tribute to Maestro Robert Shaw in our October performance of Durufle's Requiem Add to that the excellent musical contributions made by the Chamber Singers this season, which will culminate in a July performance at the Georgia Convention of the American Choral Directors Association, and you can see that we have much to be proud of. Think also about all who have assisted us this year. Mary Thompson has designed and faithfully maintained for us one of the best web sites anywhere, which continues to win awards (two this past week). Jeff Dimond has again lent his graphic design skills to produce brochures, programs, posters and newsletters that portray both the artistic and professional aspects of MOS. John Bradley provides both wonderful sound support for us at our concerts and absolutely fantastic recordings of our work. Michael Grant, RUMC Building Manager, goes far beyond his responsibilities in that position to help make our concerts a success. Tom Alderman offers nothing less than exquisite musicianship, prodigious skill and quiet humility week after week. President Toni Myers and all our section leaders have given me excellent advice and assistance throughout the year and have helped to make us a more musical ensemble. Debbie Rostad and Cammie Stephens have provided invaluable support in the MOS office, which has allowed the remarkable and irreplaceable Jeannie Lewis to be more involved with production concerns. It has also given Jeannie a little more time to try to manage me (an obviously difficult and unrewarding aspect of her job!). When I consider the many contributions that the people listed above and each one of you - the singers of MOS - have made to this organization, I am almost speechless. Please note the word "almost." So to you, my dear MOS, I offer my heartfelt and sincere thanks. The enormous degree of satisfaction I receive from working with you continues to grow each year. May the 2000-2001 season bring us new challenges, opportunities and accomplishments. Rehearsals for the new season begin Monday, September 11. All my best, P.S.
