A Call for Collaboration

Dear Friends,

The Michael O'Neal Singers, Inc. is more aware than ever before of the need for

Dr. Michael O'Neal
Dr. Michael O'Neal, Founder and Artistic Director of The Michael O'Neal Singers

music to speak when words fail us. Our audiences and singers frequently share with us how our music has enriched their lives. We thank you for allowing us to have an impact on your quality of life. Thus, we turn to you to ask for your continued generosity, especially during these challenging times.

We need your help now… Like most non-profit arts organizations in America today, MOS is facing difficult economic times. In an effort to use our funds wisely, we have chosen to use this newsletter, rather than a separate mailing, to present our appeal for a financial gift – however small or large – in support of our 2004 Annual Fund Drive. Please take a few minutes to read further and consider our case for a contribution.

A chorus offers an audience the opportunity to experience the collective glory of human voices as a musical instrument. Bringing people together from diverse backgrounds to create a work of beauty can be a transforming experience for the audience, as well as for the performers. Artistic excellence and community building are needed in a downturn economy, perhaps even more than in boom times. Certainly in these times of global instability and unrest, music has the ability to calm us, to strengthen us, and to bridge religious, racial, and social divides.

Individuals provide our broadest base of support. While constantly seeking grants from corporations, foundations, and governmental agencies, MOS relies most heavily on individuals who know us, recognize our contribution to the community, and wish to invest in that effort. A gift of $25 can purchase office supplies or a piece of music for the chamber ensemble. A gift of $50 will pay for 150 publicity concert fliers. A gift of $100 covers phone and internet expenses for one month. It takes the combined gifts of many individuals to pay printing costs of tickets, programs, and newsletters; to cover the cost of a soloist or instrumentalist; to purchase music for the entire chorus; or, to pay licensing and production fees for a recording.

A chorus by its very nature is a collaboration – singers, instrumentalists, a conductor, artistic and administrative staff – all joining forces in pursuit of a common goal. Through participation in the 2004 Annual Fund Campaign, you have the opportunity to collaborate with MOS as we focus on the artistic and financial challenges ahead.  Please consider making a gift of $25, $50, $100, or more to the MOS Annual Fund Campaign.

The Michael O'Neal Singers greatly needs your assistance at this time. A gift in any amount will enable us to remain faithful to our calling. The MOS Board of Directors and staff promise to continue our very best efforts to move forward with our mission of presenting performances of artistic excellence, while maintaining a financially stable organization, structured to support that mission.

Please consider using the following PayPal button to make a tax-deductible contribution now.

Your gift will make a difference … seriously.
