Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund Awards MOS Prestigious Grant
The Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund announced that The Michael O'Neal Singers is one of eleven 2004 grant recipients, awarding $25,000 to create an Executive Director position. MOS members Janet Pierce, Cammie
Stephens and Jeff Dimond were among those present to accept the grant award in late May.
In its awards program, the Arts Fund stated that "the minimally staffed organization has been so successful that the size and scope of its day-to-day activities have grown beyond
its abilities and now require more paid management staff. An [executive] director is needed to coordinate the many professionals and volunteers involved… as well as to ensure
the organization's continued growth and stability."
The Arts Fund is a partnership of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and provides stabilization grants to smaller arts organizations
in 23 counties. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to institutional planning and financial management and have committed board members, administrators, artists and volunteers.
MOS Founder and Artistic Director, Michael O'Neal, stated about the grant, "This award from the Arts Fund indicates
recognition of the superb work that has already been accomplished by our small, dedicated staff, and at the same time it positions MOS to climb to a new level of administrative
and artistic excellence. We are honored to be one of only eleven grant recipients this year, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to the metro Atlanta area in
presenting the finest in choral literature that is both serious music, and seriously fun."
