MOS Comings & Goings…..

As the Chairman of the MOS Board of Directors, I have had the good fortune MOS Comings and Goingsto work with a dynamic group of individuals who are passionate about The Michael O'Neal Singers and who work diligently to fulfill its mission. During 2004, we bade farewell to Nancy Cole in June and Daryl Lee in November - outstanding board members whose contributions were considerable. While each will be greatly missed, we are fortunate to welcome two new members to our board who share the same sort of passion for MOS and are eager to get started in their new roles.

We welcome Eileen Ponich who has been a lover of music since she was a child. She has studied voice privately for 15 years and is active in the music ministries of her church, as well as a member of the MOS chorus since 1992. Professionally, Eileen is Director of Enterprise Technology at MetLife where she continues over 20 years in the information technology field. Eileen and her husband, Leonard, have lived in Atlanta since 1989 and currently make their home in Cumming. Welcome, Eileen!

Next, we welcome Michael Welch, Vice President in the Technology Division of Bank of America where he was been for the past 13 years. Michael began his musical journey as a child enjoying Broadway musicals and renewed his interest in choral music while in college and again four years ago when he joined the MOS baritone section.  A past member of the YMCA Board of Directors and Chamber of Commerce, Michael and his wife, Theresa, have lived in Atlanta since 1996 and currently reside in Suwanee. Welcome Michael!

Finally, we are pleased to welcome David Wilkes as Executive Director effective February 7, 2005. The establishment of this position is made possible by a grant from Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund awarded in May 2004, and coincides with recent changes in our administrative staff (see Michael's article). David comes to MOS with several years of successful experience in the non-profit sector with an emphasis in the performing arts. A talented instrumentalist, David holds a Bachelor of Music from Auburn University and a Masters of Music from Kent State University. He continued his studies in the MBA program in Arts Administration at the University of Cincinnati, and brings to MOS a strong background in the areas of development, database management, and marketing. We are extremely pleased to have David as a part of staff. Welcome, David!
