Heading the list is A Robert Shaw Christmas: Angels on High)... Another attractive new release from Telarc is Dream Season: the Christmas Harp...
Finally don't miss Choral Gems: Favorite Sacred Classics, with the Michael O'Neal Singers (ACA Digital CM20034). This is a BIG symphonic choir of some 150 voices recruited throughout the Atlanta area, with a chamber choir of 30 voices drawn from the larger ensemble.
On this disc, they sing some of the great choral blockbusters with a sound that is absolutely sumptuous:
"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," "Crucifixus,"
and "Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light" (Bach), "And the Glory of the Lord," "Hallelujah," and "Worthy is the Lamb" (Handel), "The Heavens Are Telling" (Haydn), "He Watching over Israel"
(Mendelssohn), "How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place" (Brahms), other selections by Mozart, Franck and Bounod, plus the "Sanctus" and "Pie Jesu" from the Duruflé Requiem.
Recorded in glorious sonics at the Roswell United Methodist Church, this is a sleeper for this year's holiday season.
