This year, the Board of The Michael O'Neal Singers is making an offer to increase your financial giving power. Between now and May 31, 2007, any financial gift you make during our spring appeal will be matched by our Board.
We are very proud of the individual members who come together to make up our enthusiastic and committed ensemble. Allow us to share the story of one of our members, Rick Fisher, who sings tenor:
Member Spotlight - Rick Fisher
All the years run together now, so I can't remember whether I had church choir three times a week for four years, or four times a week for three years. I was then a boy soprano growing up in Wales, and sang in the local church choir down the road from our house. Regardless of spiritual beliefs and behavior, it was typical for boys with tolerable voices to sing in the choirs.
After my voice changed, I had no particular interest in singing, and upon graduation I wandered from city to city forgoing any musical pursuits. I was in my 40s when I stumbled upon a voice class where I was told, much to my surprise, that I had a good singing voice. The class led to an audition for Brigadoon at a local community theater, and soon I was back in a chorus after almost 30 years.
Eventually my wandering brought me to the Atlanta area where I joined my church choir and began voice classes. Then, two years ago I auditioned for The Michael O'Neal Singers and was invited to join. I am very proud to continue my musical journey with a chorus that exhibits such quality and dedication. It is an honor to participate in our collaborations with outstanding guests such as composer Alice Parker, the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet and ASO cellist Daniel Laufer.
Every Gift Helps
MOS attracts dedicated singers, like Rick, from fourteen counties across metro Atlanta every week to prepare the quality performances our audiences expect and deserve. Bringing beautiful music to life requires a great deal of time, effort and resources and ticket prices only cover about one-third the cost of producing our concerts. Please consider making a gift by May 31 that will be matched by our Board. We are at 93% of our goal. Any gift you make will help MOS continue adding to the vibrant arts scene that makes metropolitan Atlanta a great place to live, work and play.
A Bonus Gift for You
As an added benefit, those making a gift of $125 or more will receive a CD recording of our May 11 concert; Encore! An Evening of Choral Showstoppers. This CD will not be sold to the general public.
Please consider making a gift of $25, $50, $125 or more to the MOS Spring Appeal.
Thank you for investing in our sound community.
