Arrival in Rome. After customs clearance meet your tour manager Sonia Vargas.

Board your deluxe air-conditioned double decker for a drive to Naples located in one of the world's most beautiful bays. It was once a Greek colony and now a city rich with artistic interest.

NapoliAfternoon sightseeing tour of Naples with a local guide. We will see the Duomo, the San Gregorio Armeno, Castel Nouvo and Palazzo Reale, an imposing castle dating from 1282.

Continue to the famous hills of Posillipo, dotted with villas and their lovely gardens and modern buildings. From here you have splendid views of the Golfo de Napoli. Last stop on your excursion will be the city of Pozzuoli, where you will see the Amfiteatro Flavio the largest amphitheater in Italy.

Continue to Vietri sul Mare/Salerno for overnight

Tue, May 25  SALERNO – POMPEII – SORRENTO – NAPLES   (B)
After breakfast a full day excursion in the area.

Pompeii10.00am We start with Pompeii and a guided visit to this famous town, buried in AD 79 in one of the most disastrous volcanic eruptions (Mt. Vesuvius) in history. We continue with a drive on the famous Amalfi coast Sorrentoroad as we proceed to Sorrento, a well known resort.

Afternoon return to Naples in time for our first concert.

Abbey of Monte Cassino
09.00am After breakfast we leave Naples as we proceed to Monte Cassino for a visit to the monastery, which is the home of the Benedictines. Monte Cassino was also the site of an important battle during the WW II.

PescaraLunch on your own before we head north to the Adriatic coast and our beach hotel in Montesilvano, right outside Pescara.

09.00  Proceed through terracotta colored Italian countryside to medieval Assisi, which is dominated by the Basilica di San Francesco. A walk through geranium-hung streets, lovely views and fountain-splashed piazzas will take us to the Basilica where St Francis is buried.

08.30am Morning departure for Siena. Here we will see one of Europe's greatest medieval squares – Piazza del Campo. From Torre del Mangia, you have a great view above the Piazza and the city.

02.00pm Continue in the late afternoon to Florence, the cradle of Renaissance.

Check in at your hotel and freshen up.

Florence08.30am Morning sightseeing in Florence After breakfast, a local guide will give us a sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the Church of Santa Croce, the Ponte Vecchio Bridge (1345) and the Accademia, where we will see Michelangelo's famous "David."

Pisa12.30pm Afternoon excursion to nearby Pisa where we will view its three splendid buildings – the Doumo, Baptistry and the Campanile (Leaning Tower), which was completed in 1350. On our return to Florence, we stop in Fiesole to have a lovely view of Florence.

09.00am This morning our local guide will take us for a visit to the Vatican Museum, including the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's superbly painted ceiling. We will also visit Rome's greatest amphitheater – the Coliseum commissioned in AD 72. We continue in the afternoon with sights like the Roman Forum, Spanish steps and the Trevi fountain.

  • For fewer than 41 or more than 74 participants the price will be re -calculated. The above prices are based on a dollar/euro ratio similar to that in effect when the tour was planned. If the euro gains more than 15 % against the dollar, we reserve the right to re-calculate the cost at the final billing.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE: (this schedule assumes use of BEST's air arrangements. Deduct $100 per payment if not using BEST's air arrangements)

  • $350 Deposit due on or before Oct 1, 2003. ($100 is non-refundable registration fee)
  • Further payments of $350 are due by Oct 20, Nov 20, Dec 20, 2003; Jan 20 and Feb 20, 2004.
  • The final balance is due by Mar 20, 2004.

Those wishing flight deviations or land only participation must submit a completed Flight Deviation or Land Only Form with the proper remittance. If you need a form, please call B.E.S.T. and we will be happy to fax or mail a form to you.

All participants must complete a Registration Contract and agree to abide by the conditions listed on the contract.

ALL CHANGES FROM THE INITIAL REGISTRATION CONTRACT MUST BE MADE IN WRITING AND CANNOT BE PROCESSED BY TELEPHONE.

NO CHANGES OF ANY KIND WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHIN SIXTY DAYS OF DEPARTURE.
