The World Around Us

Poets and composers have always found the world in which we live to be a topic of inspiration for their art. The power and mystique of nature often influence songwriters to compose pieces that lead us to view our world, with its various landscapes, weather, and water, in new and profound ways. Kaleidoscope, the 32-voice select ensemble chosen from the larger MOS chorus, performs a program of pieces on the subjects of river, mountain, valley, sea and sky. If you’ve been to a Kaleidoscope concert before you know there will be a wide variety of pieces performed. Some will be familiar; some you will likely be hearing for the first time. The music sung will span several centuries and will represent many different stylistic approaches–in other words, will be a musical kaleidoscope that will both enlighten and entertain.
