How long does the Sing-Along last? About 1 hour and 15 minutes (no intermission). We do what\u2019s known as the \u201cChristmas Portion\u201d of the Messiah–Part I and the \u201cHallelujah\u201d chorus from Part II.<\/p>\n
When do the doors open? Approximately 30 minutes before the Sing-Along<\/p>\n
Are tickets available at the door? Yes. Cash, checks to \u201cMOS\u201d and major credit cards accepted<\/p>\n
Do I need to bring my own music? We have scores available for sale at the door, while supplies last. (We usually sell out.)<\/p>\n
Where can I get a score of my own? Michael O\u2019Neal conducts from the Watkins-Shaw edition, but other editions are close enough to be completely useful.
\nOrder a copy online from J.W. Pepper, SheetMusic Plus, Amazon, etc. No time to find and buy a score? Visit http:\/\/www.singharmony.com\/free.php to print some or all of the choruses on your own printer or send to a place like Kinko’s for printing, or download\/view on your tablet during the Sing-Along.<\/p>\n
Is there reserved seating? All seating is unassigned, and is therefore “general” in a sense. However, we do designate pews on the main-floor level which are segregated by voice part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass.) After that, the rest of the room is open seating and people can sit wherever they like in whatever grouping they care to make.<\/p>\n
Are people required to sing? No, not at all. Thus, if you come with a friend and one of you wants to sing and the other one does not, that is just fine. You can come and simply listen if you want to. We recommend sitting in the balcony, as you will hear a more blended sound from that vantage point.<\/p>\n
Does the audience sing along on every piece? No, just on the choral parts. The arias and the recitatives are sung by our soloists.<\/p>\n
May I bring a musical instrument and play along with the orchestra? No. Firmly and empathetically, but none the less politely, no! (credit to Boulder Messiah Sing-Along for this tip!)<\/p>\n
How can I practice the choruses? Visit the Boulder Messiah Sing-Along page (http:\/\/www.messiahsingalong.org\/mp3_library.html) to hear part-specific audio if you\u2019d like.<\/p>\n
