{"id":5510,"date":"2019-10-24T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2019-10-24T21:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mosingers.com\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=5510"},"modified":"2019-10-24T17:07:56","modified_gmt":"2019-10-24T21:07:56","slug":"beethoven-and-bruckner","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.mosingers.com\/concert\/beethoven-and-bruckner\/","title":{"rendered":"Beethoven and Bruckner"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Musical Titans<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The MOS Chorus with Georgia Philharmonic<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) and Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) wrote some of the most memorable music of the nineteenth century.\u00a0 The Michael O\u2019Neal Singers join forces with Georgia Philharmonic to perform some of the grandest music produced by these musical titans.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will begin with Maestro John Morrison of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiaphilharmonic.org\/\">Georgia Philharmonic<\/a> leading that ensemble in Beethoven\u2019s <em>Egmont Overture<\/em>, Op. 84.\u00a0 Written in 1810 as incidental music for Goethe\u2019s play of the same name, this powerful and expressive music is one of the last works of Beethoven\u2019s middle period and is similar in style to his <em>Symphony No. 5<\/em>.\u00a0 Following the <em>Egmont, <\/em>MOS will join the orchestra to\u00a0perform Beethoven\u2019s <em>Choral Fantasy<\/em>, Op. 80, written in 1808 for piano solo, vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra.\u00a0 Widely recognized as a forerunner to the \u201cOde to Joy\u201d movement of his more famous <em>Symphony No. 9<\/em>, this brilliant piece is fully satisfying in its own right.<\/p>\n<p>The second half of the concert will be conducted by Maestro Michael O\u2019Neal and will begin with The Michael O\u2019Neal Singers performing the exquisite motets <em>Locus Iste<\/em>, WAB 23 and\u00a0<em>Ave Maria<\/em>, WAB 6.\u00a0 Written for unaccompanied choir in seven parts this little gem is a perfect example Bruckner\u2019s musical subtlety.
