Bluegrass, Gospel, and Spirituals<\/p>\n
The 2015-2016 season of The Michael O\u2019Neal Singers begins with a tribute to three uniquely American song genres.\u00a0\u00a0 The sounds of Bluegrass, African-American Spirituals, and 20th<\/sup> century Gospel will have you clapping your hands and tapping your toes as you experience a lively outpouring of joy expressed through the singing of the full 160-voice MOS Chorus.<\/p>\n The singers and instrumentalists will open the concert\u00a0with songs and hymns performed in a Bluegrass style.\u00a0 You\u2019ll hear pieces like Amazing Grace<\/em>; Swing Down, Chariot<\/em>; and O Come, Angel Band,<\/em> all accompanied with guitar, mandolin, bass, and banjo.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve ever enjoyed a Gaither Homecoming program, you\u2019ll have an idea of what to expect with this concert!<\/p>\n The Chorus next pays tribute to one of the most popular forms of American choral music \u2013 the African-American Spiritual.\u00a0\u00a0 MOS will perform settings by one of the most celebrated arrangers of African-American Spirituals in the 20th<\/sup>Century, Moses Hogan.
