Recent Hits from the World of Musical Theater
When many of us consider the Broadway Musical our thoughts turn to Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Frank Loesser, and Stephen Sondheim. These composers and lyricists represent what has been called the “golden age” of the Broadway Musical, but there exists today a new generation of artists creating exciting and memorable music theater.
In our 2015-2016 season finale, The Michael O’Neal Singers will feature selections from some of the popular musicals from the past quarter-century. Think Rent, The Lion King, Jekyll and Hyde, Ragtime, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia!, Hairspray, Wicked, and Monty Python’s Spamalot.
